Why Choosing the Right Restoration Company Matters

When water enters your home or property, it can ruin walls, floors, and even your health. A trusted restoration company can help stop more damage and make your home safe again.

Professional restoration services use tools and technology for water extraction, drying, and cleaning. They can also find mold and stop it from growing.

Look for Fast Help After a Disaster

Water spreads fast. After a flood, storm, or other natural disaster, call for help right away. Good restoration companies offer 24-hour help. They know that fast drying and water mitigation is key to stopping mold and more damage.

Check for Experience and Knowledge

When thinking about how to choose a water damage restoration company, ask about their knowledge. A professional restoration team has worked on water damage restoration, fire damage, and even commercial water damage.

They know how to:

  • Do an inspection to find all the damage
  • Use water extraction machines
  • Do drying and cleaning
  • Remove mold
  • Do home restoration and construction if needed

Make Sure They Are Licensed and Certified

The best restoration contractors have a license and the right credentials. Ask if their team has special training. This shows they can do safe and professional work.

A good restoration contractor also carries insurance. This protects you if there are any accidents during damage restoration.

Ask About Reputation

A good restoration company has a strong reputation. You can check reviews online. Ask your friends or neighbors if they know any trusted restoration professionals.

Good companies have happy customers. They care about customer service.

Work With Your Insurance Company

If you have home insurance, tell your insurance company right away. A professional company will work with your insurance to make payment easier.

Ask the company if they have done disaster recovery jobs with insurance before. They should know how to talk with insurance adjusters.

Ask About Services They Provide

Good restoration services include:

  • Inspection of all damage
  • Water extraction and drying
  • Mold clean up
  • Mitigation to stop damage from spreading
  • Home restoration and repairs
  • Work on commercial water damage
  • Disaster recovery after a natural disaster or severe weather

They should be able to handle the job from start to finish.

Ask About Technology and Tools

Today, good restoration professionals use strong technology. This includes:

  • Pumps for water extraction
  • Special fans for drying
  • Tools to find hidden water
  • Cleaners to stop mold

These tools help stop health problems that come from water damage and mold.

Look for Local Restoration Contractors

When a disaster happens, it is smart to hire a restoration contractor near you. Local companies can come fast during severe weather or a storm.

Work With a Team That Knows Construction

Sometimes damage from a flood or storm is so bad that you need a general contractor. Many restoration contractors also have a construction team. This helps fix walls, floors, and even roofs.

Talk About Cost and Payment

Before the work starts, ask about payment. A good restoration company will give a clear plan. They will tell you what is covered by insurance and what is not.

Ask About Health and Safety

Flood water and mold can be bad for your health. A professional restoration team wears safety gear. They make sure your home is safe before you go back.

Choose a Team With Great Customer Service

Good restoration companies care about you. They talk clearly and answer questions. They know you are upset after a disaster and want to help.

Restoration Companies for Homes and Businesses

Whether you need damage restoration for your house or commercial water damage services for a business, make sure the company has done both.

Restoration professionals who have worked on big jobs know how to handle all kinds of water damage.

Questions to Ask Before You Hire

Before you sign with a restoration company, ask:

  • How many years have you done water damage restoration?
  • Do you have a license?
  • Can you work with my insurance company?
  • Do you handle mold and water mitigation?
  • Will you do all repairs and home restoration?

Steps in the Damage Restoration Process

Here is what happens when a professional team comes to help:

  • Inspection – They check the property and write down all damage.
  • Water Extraction – They remove all water.
  • Drying – They use fans and machines for drying.
  • Cleaning – They clean and check for mold.
  • Mitigation – They stop damage from getting worse.
  • Restoration – They fix your home with construction work.

Why Mold Is a Big Problem

When water sits too long, mold grows. Mold can hurt your health and your property.

Good restoration contractors make sure all areas are dry. They remove any mold.

Restoration After a Storm or Natural Disaster

Severe weather like a storm, flood, or other natural disaster can cause big damage. This is why disaster recovery is important.

A strong restoration company knows how to clean up after these events.

Home Restoration Can Give You Peace

When the work is done, you can feel safe again. Home restoration makes your house clean, safe, and beautiful.

Giving Eric a 5-star review, and we haven't even started any work yet. He came to gave us his professional opinion and quote to address a mold issue in our house. He is clearly very knowledgeable. His opinion was wildly different than the previous estimate we received, from an agency that wanted to charge us about 4 times as much. He did a much more thorough assessment, and explained his reasoning for why he felt that our issue wasn't as extreme as the previous agency. He even gave us some suggestions as to how we could address our issue on our own, if need be. He doesn't appear "out to get you"... there are a lot of companies that work off the "mold is gold" motto, but he doesn't seem to be one of them. If we end up going with him for the job, we'll update the review... but, I was just so happy and relieved with his approach, estimate, knowledge, and his overall professionalism. Glad there are still people like this out there!

We had a leak under the kitchen sink and called another company first. We were told there is mold and they would have to tent the area to remove it and that we'd also need a whole new cabinet. Of course, it was pretty expensive and they said we couldn't use the kitchen for a couple weeks. Feeling it's always wise to get more than one estimate, I called Preferred Restoration as they had excellent reviews. Eric replied promptly and came out to look things over. He felt the mold wasn't bad enough to require a tent and also felt a whole new cabinet was not required. Needless to say, we accepted his estimate immediately and the work was done in a professional manner. (They don't do the carpentry work, but can make a recommendation.) I highly recommend Preferred Restoration. I believe it's an honest company with skilled professionals.

Right from the start I knew I was going to be in good hands with this company. The response time was super quick and getting Eric to come out to my home to assess the situation was quicker than expected. Eric was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions thoroughly. He took his time to listen to all my concerns to carefully address the issues in my home. He made a stressful situation feel less stressful and manageable. I definitely recommend this company and will contact Eric if needed in the future. Thanks again Eric!

We discovered a mold issue in one of our bedrooms and reached out to Preferred Restoration Services for guidance. Eric was extremely helpful in helping us navigate what needed to be done since we had no experience with this type of issue. He shepherded us through the process and helped us understand every step that needed to be performed. He referred us to a couple of contractors which we used for plumbing and testing and they were also excellent. This was helpful so that we didn't have to figure out who else we needed to work with and vet them as well. Everyone from Preferred Restoration Services was very professional, communication was excellent, and customer service was outstanding. We had a lot of questions and they were all answered very quickly. I highly recommend Preferred Restoration Services for any damage restoration needs.

We had an issue with a sewer line that leaked and potentially needed some soil remediation under the house. I gave Eric a call and made an appointment for the next day for him to come out and assess the situation. Throughout the process his communication was great and he was on time (even gave me a call to let me know he was on his way). He went above an beyond to even check inside the house for potential water damage/mold. We did not have to move forward with any remediation. I appreciate Eric's communication, thoroughness, and HONESTY. We will keep his contact if we need any work in the future. I highly recommend Eric and Preferred Restoration!
